What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effects of normal saline infusion versus sodium lactate Ringer's solution on renal function in patients diagnosed with heat stroke. Participants will receive either a standard normal saline infusion or a restricted normal saline infusion while receiving Ringer's solution in the emergency department. The primary objective is to determine if limiting normal saline can reduce the incidence of acute kidney injury and mortality in these patients. The study will compare outcomes between the two groups to assess the effectiveness of the interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with heat stroke.

Not a fit: Patients requiring immediate cardiopulmonary resuscitation, those with end-stage renal disease, or severe organ damage will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved treatment protocols for heat stroke, potentially reducing kidney injury and mortality rates.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on this specific comparison, similar studies have explored fluid management in heat stroke, indicating potential for impactful findings.
