Comparing MRI sensitivity for acute brain microinfarctions

Sensitivity Comparison of Follow-up MRI Between Acute Cerebral and Cerebellar Cortical Microinfarctions ( CMI )

Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nīmes · NCT06218576

What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the sensitivity of follow-up MRI in detecting acute cerebral and cerebellar cortical microinfarctions (CMI) in patients. It focuses on patients who have experienced symptomatic brain infarctions and had initial MRIs performed shortly after symptom onset. The study will analyze the persistence of MRI signal changes over time, particularly in patients with small-sized CMIs. By examining the temporal dynamics of MRI signals, the study seeks to provide insights into the detection rates of these microinfarctions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who have experienced a symptomatic brain infarction and had an MRI within one week of symptom onset.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old will not benefit from this study as they do not meet the eligibility criteria.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the diagnostic accuracy and follow-up care for patients with acute cerebral and cerebellar microinfarctions.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been limited studies on the sensitivity of MRI for acute CMIs, this study's specific focus on acute cases and its observational nature may provide novel insights.
