What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to compare the effects of modified Otago exercises and Frenkel's exercises on balance, motor function, fear of falling, and quality of life in older adults. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of the two exercise groups, performing their respective exercises for 45 minutes, three times a week over eight weeks. The study will evaluate outcomes at baseline, the fourth week, and the eighth week to determine which exercise regimen is more effective. This research addresses a gap in comparative studies of these two exercise methods in the geriatric population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are community-dwelling adults who have experienced a fall in the past year and can walk independently.

Not a fit: Patients with severe comorbidities, mental illnesses, or those unable to walk independently may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved exercise recommendations for enhancing balance and quality of life in older adults.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes for both Otago and Frenkel's exercises, but direct comparisons between the two are limited.
