What this trial studies

This study compares the effectiveness of micro-ultrasound and MRI in monitoring prostate cancer during active surveillance. Participants with Gleason Grade Group 1 prostate cancer will undergo targeted biopsies using both imaging modalities to assess the detection of clinically significant cancer. The study aims to determine which imaging method is more effective in identifying progression to higher-grade prostate cancer. Additionally, blood samples will be collected for future biomarker research.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adult men with Gleason Grade Group 1 prostate cancer who are currently under active surveillance and require a confirmatory biopsy.

Not a fit: Patients who cannot undergo MRI or biopsy will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve the accuracy of prostate cancer monitoring, leading to better patient outcomes.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using micro-ultrasound for prostate cancer detection, indicating potential success for this approach.
