What this trial studies
This cohort study evaluates different algorithms for mapping atrial fibrillation by analyzing both the structural and electrical activity of the heart. Investigators will utilize computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans to assess atrial structure in patients undergoing ablation. Additionally, they will analyze electrograms collected during electrophysiology studies to understand the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation and its outcomes. The study aims to gather data from 200 patients to enhance the understanding of atrial fibrillation mapping techniques.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 21-80 who are undergoing electrophysiology studies for atrial fibrillation ablation.
Not a fit: Patients with poor data quality of atrial fibrillation recordings may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved mapping techniques for atrial fibrillation, potentially enhancing treatment outcomes for patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored mapping techniques for atrial fibrillation, but this specific comparison of algorithms is relatively novel.
