What this trial studies
This multicenter, randomized, open-label study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of LY01610, an irinotecan hydrochloride liposome injection, compared to topotecan in patients with recurrent small cell lung cancer (SCLC) who have experienced disease progression after first-line platinum-based chemotherapy. The study will include a population pharmacokinetics analysis and explore the impact of genetic polymorphisms on the drug's pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety. Participants will be monitored for treatment outcomes and side effects throughout the study.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with histologically or cytologically confirmed recurrent small cell lung cancer who have progressed after first-line chemotherapy.
Not a fit: Patients with significant liver metastasis or those with an ECOG score of 2 or higher may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective treatment option for patients with recurrent small cell lung cancer.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using liposomal formulations for cancer treatment, suggesting potential success for this approach.
