What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of two different patient positions—left lateral and supine—during colonoscopy procedures. By analyzing which position allows for faster procedures and fewer complications, the study seeks to optimize the quality of colonoscopy while adhering to established international standards. The research will involve patients who require a colonoscopy and will assess their experiences and outcomes based on the position they are placed in during the procedure.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults aged 18-79 who are scheduled for a colonoscopy and can provide informed consent.
Not a fit: Patients under 18 or over 80 years old, those with a history of colorectal cancer, or those with severe medical conditions may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the efficiency and safety of colonoscopy procedures for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on colonoscopy positions, this specific comparison of left lateral versus supine is less commonly explored, making it a novel approach.
