What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of laser photobiomodulation (PBM) compared to 'Magic Mouthwash' in alleviating pain associated with aphthous ulcers in pediatric dental patients. It will assess how PBM influences the healing rate of these ulcers and measure changes in pain levels reported by the children undergoing treatment. The study will involve pediatric patients presenting with one or more aphthous ulcers during their dental appointments, with follow-up assessments conducted to monitor outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pediatric patients who present with one or more aphthous ulcers and have not previously received PBM treatment for these ulcers.
Not a fit: Patients with herpes labialis or systemic diseases affecting soft tissue healing may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective pain management option for children suffering from aphthous ulcers.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing research in the field of photobiomodulation, this specific comparison of PBM and Magic Mouthwash in pediatric patients is relatively novel.
