What this trial studies

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and side effects of inhaled isopropyl alcohol vapor (IAV) compared to inhaled eucalyptus scent (IES) in reducing nausea associated with acute migraine attacks. Utilizing a double-blind randomized control design, the study will measure nausea reduction and the time until patients require additional anti-nausea medications. The eucalyptus scent is used as a placebo since it has not demonstrated efficacy for this condition.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 65 who experience nausea associated with migraines at least twice a month.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 or over 65 years old, or those without a diagnosis of acute migraine, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new, effective treatment option for patients suffering from nausea during migraine attacks.

How similar studies have performed: While the use of inhaled isopropyl alcohol for nausea is not widely studied, similar approaches using aromatherapy have shown mixed results, making this a potentially novel investigation.
