What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of Sensory Perceptual Motor (SPM) training on children diagnosed with mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It involves a randomized control trial with 32 participants divided into two groups: one receiving individual SPM training and the other receiving group SPM training. The study will assess outcomes using the Test of Movement Battery for Children and a quality of life scale over a 10-month period. Data will be analyzed using SPSS to determine the effectiveness of the different training approaches.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 4 to 12 diagnosed with mild to moderate Autism Spectrum Disorder who can sit and walk without support.
Not a fit: Patients with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, significant sensory impairments, or those who have recently undergone sensory integration therapy may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance sensory processing and motor skills in children with autism, improving their overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results with sensory training approaches in children with autism, suggesting potential for success in this study.
