Comparing immediate versus delayed overlay placement after root canal treatment
Post-treatment Pain After Cementing an Indirect Restoration at the End of a Root Canal Treatment: Clinical Trial

What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the impact of the timing of overlay placement following root canal treatment on postoperative pain. Participants, aged 18 and older, who require root canal treatment in posterior teeth will be randomly assigned to receive either immediate overlay placement or delayed placement after one week. The study will assess pain levels at various intervals post-treatment, specifically at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours. The goal is to determine if immediate placement reduces postoperative pain compared to delayed placement.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 years old who need root canal treatment in posterior teeth with antagonist teeth.
Not a fit: Patients with preoperative pain requiring painkillers or those without antagonist teeth may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved pain management strategies for patients undergoing root canal treatments.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have explored similar approaches, but this specific comparison of immediate versus delayed overlay placement is relatively novel.
