What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to compare the effectiveness of hypertonic saline nebulization versus adrenaline nebulization in treating acute bronchiolitis in pediatric patients. It is a double-blind study involving children admitted to the Pediatrics department of Combined Military Hospital Nowshera. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either treatment every six hours, with their clinical improvement measured using the Wood-Downes clinical scoring system and the length of hospitalization recorded. Data will be analyzed using statistical methods to determine the significance of the results.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children admitted to the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit with acute bronchiolitis.
Not a fit: Patients with co-existing conditions such as congenital heart disease, immunodeficiency, or other serious infections may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective treatment option for children suffering from acute bronchiolitis.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored nebulization treatments for bronchiolitis, but this specific comparison of hypertonic saline and adrenaline is novel.
