What this trial studies

This study aims to compare the effects of hippotherapy and Swiss ball training on trunk control and balance in children diagnosed with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. A total of 64 participants aged 4 to 11 years will be randomly assigned to two groups, with one group receiving hippotherapy and the other Swiss ball therapy. Each intervention will last for 30 minutes per session, conducted four times a week over a period of six weeks. The study will assess improvements in trunk control and balance using standardized scales.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 4 to 11 years with a diagnosis of mild spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.

Not a fit: Patients with other types of cerebral palsy, neurological disorders, or significant cognitive impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide effective therapeutic options for improving balance and trunk control in children with spastic diplegic cerebral palsy.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the direct comparison of these two therapies, previous studies have shown positive outcomes for both hippotherapy and Swiss ball training in improving motor skills in children with cerebral palsy.
