What this trial studies

This study investigates the effectiveness of High Tone Power Therapy compared to Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) in alleviating polyneuropathic pain in diabetic patients. Sixty male patients aged 50-60 with diabetic polyneuropathy will be randomly assigned to receive either therapy three times a week for three months. The High Tone Power Therapy will utilize a frequency range of 4096 Hz to 31768 Hz, while TENS will use frequencies from 2 to 120 Hz. The goal is to identify a non-pharmacological treatment option that can improve patient symptoms and enhance their quality of life.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are male patients aged 50-60 with a diagnosis of diabetic polyneuropathy who are independently ambulant.

Not a fit: Patients with psychiatric disorders, other neuromuscular disorders, or those with foot deformities and ulcers may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new non-invasive treatment option for managing diabetic polyneuropathic pain.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promise in using electrical stimulation techniques for neuropathic pain, suggesting potential success for this approach.
