What this trial studies

This study evaluates the effectiveness of grape seed extract versus low-level laser therapy in treating dentin hypersensitivity, a common dental issue characterized by sharp pain in response to stimuli. Participants will include systemically healthy adults aged 20-50 with at least three sensitive teeth. The study aims to determine which treatment is more effective in reducing sensitivity by either sealing dentinal tubules with laser heat or utilizing the collagen-enhancing properties of grape seed extract. The outcomes will be measured using a visual analog scale (VAS) for pain assessment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are systemically healthy adults aged 20-50 with at least three sensitive teeth due to gingival recession or tooth wear.

Not a fit: Patients with dental issues such as caries, cracked teeth, or systemic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a new effective treatment option for patients suffering from dentin hypersensitivity.

How similar studies have performed: While there is limited data on the specific combination of these treatments, similar studies on laser therapy for dentin hypersensitivity have shown promising results.
