Comparing grafts and flaps for repairing proximal penile hypospadias
Inlay Inner Preputial Graft Versus Transverse Preputial Island Flap in Management of Proximal Penile Hypospadias

What this trial studies
This study aims to evaluate the outcomes of using inner preputial grafts versus transverse preputial island flaps in the two-stage surgical repair of proximal penile hypospadias, specifically focusing on penoscrotal and scrotal types. Proximal hypospadias presents significant surgical challenges, and the study seeks to determine which method provides better functional and cosmetic results. The research will involve pediatric patients over six months old who meet specific inclusion criteria, while excluding those with certain conditions or previous surgeries. The findings could help establish a more effective surgical approach for this condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pediatric patients over six months old diagnosed with proximal penile hypospadias.
Not a fit: Patients with perineal hypospadias, those who are circumcised, or those with previous hypospadias repairs will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and quality of life for patients with proximal penile hypospadias.
How similar studies have performed: While there is ongoing debate in the literature regarding the use of grafts versus flaps, this study aims to provide new insights into their comparative effectiveness in a specific patient population.
