What this trial studies

Researchers will compare four commonly used neonatal circumcision techniques, including Plastibell and Gomco, by measuring wound healing time, wound complications, cosmetic appearance, and parental satisfaction. Male infants under 3 months scheduled for circumcision at Tanta University are eligible, while those with bleeding disorders or genital abnormalities are excluded. Procedures are performed at Tanta University with standardized follow-up visits to document healing and any complications. The work is intended to provide practical, local evidence to help clinicians and families choose the safest and most satisfactory technique.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Male infants younger than 3 months who are planned for routine circumcision and do not have bleeding disorders or genital anomalies.

Not a fit: Infants older than 3 months or those with bleeding disorders, hypospadias, epispadias, micropenis, DSD, buried or webbed penis are excluded and would not receive benefit from the procedures as tested.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the results could identify a circumcision method that reduces complications and improves healing and cosmetic outcomes for newborn boys.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies comparing common newborn circumcision methods such as Plastibell and Gomco have reported differing rates of complications and cosmetic outcomes, so this work builds on existing but variable evidence.
