Comparing digital care models for osteoarthritis management
Digitalization of the Care for Patients With Hip and Knee Osteoarthritis

What this trial studies
This study aims to compare three different care models for patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis, focusing on the effectiveness of an app-based care model versus a web-based model and standard care. The primary goal is to assess improvements in daily function over one year, while secondary objectives include evaluating patient-reported outcomes, quality of life, cost-effectiveness, and patient experiences with each model. Participants will be randomized into one of the three care models, and their progress will be monitored over a short-term and long-term period. The study seeks to determine which model provides the best overall benefit to patients.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals referred to the orthopaedic clinic for primary hip or knee osteoarthritis who are comfortable using digital tools.
Not a fit: Patients with secondary osteoarthritis or those requiring immediate surgical intervention may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to more effective and accessible management options for patients with osteoarthritis.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using digital tools for osteoarthritis management, but this specific comparison of care models is relatively novel.
