What this trial studies

This observational study aims to compare the effectiveness of the Exponential Injury Severity Score (EISS) with the traditional Injury Severity Score (ISS) and the New Injury Severity Score (NISS) in assessing polytrauma patients. Polytrauma refers to patients with multiple severe injuries that significantly increase the risk of mortality and disability. The study will involve adult patients with multiple trauma, evaluating the accuracy and reliability of these scoring systems in a clinical setting. The findings could help improve trauma care and patient outcomes by identifying the most effective scoring method.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have experienced multiple traumatic injuries.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those with localized individual trauma will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved assessment and management of polytrauma patients, potentially reducing mortality and disability rates.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown varying success with different injury scoring systems, but this specific comparison of EISS, ISS, and NISS is relatively novel.
