What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the impact of cast customization on patient satisfaction and pain perception in children with extremity fractures. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either a plain white cast, a color-wrapped cast, or a cast with custom art. The study will measure satisfaction using a visual analog scale and assess pain scores to determine if the type of cast affects these outcomes. By focusing on the pediatric population, the trial seeks to enhance the overall experience of children undergoing treatment for fractures.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children aged 5 to 17 who have sustained an upper or lower extremity fracture and are scheduled for an orthopedic evaluation.
Not a fit: Patients over 18 years old or those who have undergone surgery will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve patient satisfaction and pain management for children with fractures.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited information on similar studies, the concept of customizing casts has gained popularity, suggesting potential for positive outcomes.
