What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of Aloe Vera gel and Rosemary oil in preventing pressure injuries among patients at risk in an orthopedic ward. It involves applying these herbal treatments topically to assess their impact on skin health and ulcer prevention. The study aims to leverage the therapeutic properties of these natural substances, which have been historically used for skin ailments, to provide a safer alternative to conventional treatments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients admitted to the orthopedic ward who are at risk of developing moderate to severe pressure injuries and have a projected hospital stay of over 10 days.
Not a fit: Patients with existing skin diseases, anemia, or those who are sensitive to Aloe Vera or Rosemary may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could offer a natural and effective method for preventing pressure injuries in at-risk patients.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive effects of Aloe Vera in wound healing, suggesting that this approach may be promising, though the specific combination with Rosemary is less commonly tested.
