What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the home environments of elderly individuals aged 65 and older in a Beijing community. Participants will have their homes photographed across seven key areas, including pathways, hallways, and living spaces. The images will be assessed using a multi-modal large language model, GPT-4o, alongside evaluations from a professional occupational therapist. The study aims to compare the recommendations provided by both the AI and the therapist to identify any significant differences in their assessments.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elderly individuals aged 65 and older who reside in their homes for extended periods and possess normal communication skills.
Not a fit: Patients who do not regularly live in their homes or have impaired communication abilities may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the safety and comfort of elderly individuals by providing tailored recommendations for home modifications.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of AI in home assessments is emerging, this specific comparative approach between AI and professional evaluations is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
