What this trial studies

This study aims to prospectively compare the effectiveness of absorbable sutures versus non-absorbable sutures used for capsular repair during hip arthroscopic procedures. Major outcomes will be assessed using various patient-reported questionnaires, including the International Hip Outcome Tool-12, modified Harris hip score, and hip outcome score, along with standard care questionnaires at multiple follow-up points. Additionally, the study will evaluate any radiographic heterotrophic ossification at the 6-month follow-up. The goal is to determine which type of suture provides better outcomes for patients undergoing hip surgery.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 18 and older requiring surgical hip arthroscopic intervention for hip pathology.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years of age or those with medical conditions that prevent anesthesia or surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical outcomes and recovery for patients undergoing hip arthroscopy.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored similar approaches in surgical techniques, but this specific comparison of suture types in hip arthroscopy is relatively novel.
