What this trial studies

This study evaluates the safety and feasibility of a single-incision gasless endoscopic total thyroidectomy via the subclavian approach for patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma, comparing it to conventional open surgery. The research is observational and retrospective, focusing on patients with thyroid neoplasms smaller than 3.0 cm and well-differentiated papillary thyroid carcinoma. The goal is to assess the effectiveness of this minimally invasive technique in treating thyroid cancer while minimizing complications and recovery time.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with well-differentiated papillary thyroid carcinoma and thyroid neoplasms smaller than 3.0 cm.

Not a fit: Patients with extrathyroidal extensions, enlarged lymph nodes, suspected distant metastases, or a history of neck radiation therapy and/or surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to less invasive surgery options for patients with thyroid cancer, resulting in quicker recovery and fewer complications.

How similar studies have performed: While this approach is innovative, similar studies have shown promising results with minimally invasive techniques in thyroid surgery.
