What this trial studies
This study evaluates the impact of community-led group discussions on beliefs and intentions regarding COVID-19 testing and vaccination. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group, which will engage in weekly virtual discussions for 12 weeks, or a control group that will not participate in these discussions. The discussions will be facilitated by peer mentors and will cover various health-related topics, including current events and COVID-19. Participants will complete online surveys and self-administer COVID-19 tests at specified intervals to assess changes in attitudes and behaviors.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who reside in specific housing authority agencies and can participate in online discussions.
Not a fit: Patients who are not residents of the designated housing authority agencies or who cannot participate in Zoom meetings may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could enhance trust in healthcare recommendations and increase participation in COVID-19 testing and vaccination.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that community-led interventions can effectively address health-related mistrust, suggesting potential success for this approach.
