What this trial studies
This study aims to implement a community-driven intervention designed to reduce gun violence by enhancing housing stability and mental health support for individuals affected by incarceration. It will provide financial assistance and education to families of incarcerated individuals while training community members in trauma-informed counseling. The study will utilize a stepped-wedge trial design across six neighborhoods in New Haven, focusing on primarily Black and Latinx populations. Data will be collected through administrative records and surveys to evaluate the effectiveness and implementation of the intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include residents aged 18 or older with a family member currently incarcerated or who has recently returned from prison, living in high-violence neighborhoods in New Haven.
Not a fit: Patients who plan to leave the study area within a year will not benefit from this intervention.

All residents in the study neighborhoods are eligible for outcome assessment. For the intervention component of housing support, the below inclusion and exclusion criteria apply. Inclusion criteria: * Age 18 or above * Family member currently incarcerated or person returning from prison within the last 12 months * Live in one of the seven neighborhoods with highest rates of gun violence in New Haven, Connecticut Exclusion criteria: * Plans to leave the study area within 1 year
