What this trial studies
This study aims to address the significant public health challenge of hypertension in Nepal, where a large portion of the population is unaware of their condition. Utilizing a hybrid type III effectiveness-implementation design, the study will conduct a cluster randomized controlled trial involving 1126 participants across 12 health facilities. The intervention will focus on the role of female community health volunteers in promoting hypertension control strategies, with both quantitative and qualitative data collected to assess implementation outcomes and effectiveness. The study seeks to provide cost-effective solutions for hypertension management in low-resource settings, particularly for marginalized populations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 30 years or older who have high blood pressure or are on hypertension medication.
Not a fit: Patients with severe illnesses requiring bed rest or pregnant women may not benefit from this study due to their specific health needs.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved hypertension awareness and management in underserved communities, potentially reducing the incidence of related health complications.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in implementing community health worker-led interventions for hypertension control, indicating a promising approach in similar contexts.
