What this trial studies

This initiative focuses on improving mental health outcomes in Harlem by creating a collaborative network involving health insurers, community organizations, and healthcare providers. The Harlem Strong Community Mental Health Collaborative aims to address barriers to care, enhance the capacity of community health workers, and improve coordination among various service providers. The study employs a Hybrid Implementation-Effectiveness design to evaluate the impact of a mental health task-sharing intervention, which includes training and resources for community health workers. The long-term goal is to establish a sustainable model for mental health care that integrates various community services.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this initiative are Black and Latino adults aged 18 to 65 who reside in Harlem and are experiencing moderate risk for depression.

Not a fit: Patients with severe mental illnesses, such as psychosis or substance abuse issues, will not benefit from this study and will be referred to higher-level mental health services.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly enhance access to mental health services and improve overall mental wellness for underserved populations in Harlem.
