Combining Statin and SGLT2i for Ischemic Heart Disease Treatment
"The Effect of The Combination Therapy of Statin and SGLT2i in The Treatment of Ischemic Heart Disease"
This study is testing if taking both a statin and an SGLT2i together can help people with ischemic heart disease manage their condition better than taking either medication alone.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the effects of statin and SGLT2i combination therapy in patients with ischemic heart disease. Conducted at Fayoum University, it will involve 90 outpatients who will be divided into three groups: those receiving statin, those receiving SGLT2i, and those receiving both medications. Blood samples will be collected to measure serum levels of both drugs using HPLC, and laboratory tests will monitor cholesterol, triglycerides, and lipoprotein levels over three months. The study seeks to understand the interactions and effects of these medications on heart disease management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are outpatients diagnosed with ischemic heart disease who are eligible for statin and SGLT2i therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with liver or renal dysfunction, fungal infections, coagulation disorders, or those on interacting medications may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance treatment strategies for patients with ischemic heart disease by optimizing medication combinations.
How similar studies have performed: While the combination of these therapies has been explored, this specific approach in ischemic heart disease is relatively novel and may provide new insights.
