What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effects of both restorative and compensatory cognitive rehabilitation techniques on individuals with mild cognitive impairment following a stroke. The study aims to determine how these combined approaches can enhance executive functions, which are often affected in stroke survivors. Participants will undergo traditional cognitive rehabilitation training to assess improvements in cognitive recovery and everyday functioning. The trial will also evaluate the retention effects of these techniques to provide insights into their long-term benefits.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 50 to 70 who have experienced a stroke at least six months prior and have mild cognitive impairment.
Not a fit: Patients with significant depression, spasticity, or other psychological disorders, as well as those diagnosed with Alzheimer's or dementia, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve cognitive recovery and everyday functioning for stroke survivors with mild cognitive impairment.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown that cognitive training can be beneficial for rehabilitation in stroke patients, suggesting that this combined approach may also yield positive results.
