What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effects of combined music and taekwondo training on the mental and physical well-being of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Participants will be randomly assigned to either a group receiving both music and taekwondo training or a group receiving only taekwondo training. The study aims to determine if the addition of music enhances the benefits of taekwondo training for these children. The trial focuses on children aged 7 to 9 years who meet specific diagnostic criteria for autism.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are Chinese children aged 7 to 9 years with a clinical diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Not a fit: Children with prior taekwondo training or those who have received music therapy in the last year may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could improve both mental and physical performance in children with autism spectrum disorder.
How similar studies have performed: While the combination of music and physical training is innovative, similar studies have shown positive outcomes with music therapy and physical activities separately.
