Combining Kinesiotaping and Steroid Injection for Shoulder Pain in Stroke Patients
The Clinical Effects of Combined Kinesiotaping and Steroid Injection in Stroke Patients With Hemiplegic Shoulder Pain : A Randomized Controlled Trial

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of sono-guided steroid injections combined with Kinesiotaping on reducing shoulder pain and improving upper extremity function in stroke patients suffering from hemiplegic shoulder pain. The approach aims to address the common complications associated with stroke, which can hinder rehabilitation and quality of life. By utilizing steroid injections to suppress inflammation and Kinesiotaping to support muscle function and joint stability, the study seeks to enhance recovery outcomes for affected patients. Participants will undergo a rehabilitation program alongside these interventions to facilitate motor recovery.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are stroke patients with hemiplegia who have experienced shoulder pain for less than six months and show soft tissue impairment on sonography.
Not a fit: Patients with a history of upper extremity injuries, systemic neuromuscular diseases, or those who are allergic to kinesio tape may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce shoulder pain and improve functional performance in stroke patients, enhancing their overall quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: While the combination of Kinesiotaping and steroid injections is a novel approach, previous studies have shown that Kinesiotaping can facilitate muscle function and reduce pain in similar patient populations.
Eligibility criteria

Exclusion Criteria: * age is younger than 20 years old or older than 80 years old * previous history of upper extremity tendon or neuromuscular injury, shoulder pain, frozen shoulder or shoulder surgery before stroke, * any other systemic neuromuscular disease; cognition or language impairment leading to communication difficulty. * allergic to kinesio tape
