What this trial studies
This study aims to collect and store both normal and malignant tissue samples from patients diagnosed with several types of gastrointestinal cancers, including gastric cancer, esophageal cancer, and colorectal cancer, among others. It will also gather blood samples from these patients to create a comprehensive database that includes relevant clinical information. The collected samples will be used to create tissue microarrays for each cancer subtype, facilitating future molecular studies and enhancing our understanding of these diseases.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are patients diagnosed with any of the specified gastrointestinal cancers who are undergoing surgery or a biopsy.
Not a fit: Patients with cancers not specified in the study or those not undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly advance research into gastrointestinal cancers and improve future treatment strategies.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies involving tissue procurement for cancer research have shown success in advancing our understanding of various malignancies, indicating that this approach is both valuable and tested.
