What this trial studies

This research involves collecting and preserving tissue samples from patients with cancer who are undergoing radiation therapy, as well as samples from healthy participants for comparison. The primary objective is to create a tissue resource and database at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center to study genetic variations and their impact on clinical outcomes. Secondary objectives include documenting disease outcomes and treatment-related toxicity, as well as establishing a registry for future research. Participants will be followed up regularly to gather comprehensive data on their health and treatment responses.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include adults over 18 with a pathologically-proven diagnosis of malignancy who are planning to undergo radiation therapy.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to provide follow-up or future contact will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance our understanding of cancer biology and improve treatment outcomes for patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have successfully utilized similar approaches to collect and analyze tissue samples for cancer research, indicating a promising avenue for future investigations.
