What this trial studies
This study evaluates the effectiveness of CogniFit computerized cognitive training on improving executive functions such as working memory, attention, and inhibitory control in primary school students in Hong Kong. Participants aged 6 to 12 will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: the CogniFit training group, the Cogmed training group, or a waitlist control group. The study aims to compare the cognitive improvements between the CogniFit and Cogmed groups against the control group to determine the efficacy of the training programs.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 6 to 12 who are enrolled in mainstream primary schools in Hong Kong.
Not a fit: Children with hearing, visual, or physical impairments that hinder participation, or those currently involved in other cognitive treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance cognitive skills in children, potentially leading to better academic performance and overall cognitive development.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with similar computerized cognitive training approaches, suggesting potential for success in this study.
