What this trial studies
This clinical trial investigates the effectiveness of a newly developed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) program for individuals suffering from Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance (IEI). The study employs a randomized controlled design, comparing outcomes between participants receiving the 8-week online CBT intervention and a wait-list control group. The program aims to address cognitive biases and negative expectations that may exacerbate symptoms attributed to environmental factors. The research seeks to enhance the quality of life for patients with IEI and contribute to the understanding of this complex condition.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 and older who have been diagnosed with Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance and experience significant symptoms.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental health disorders, such as severe depression or substance use disorder, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this treatment could significantly improve the quality of life for patients suffering from Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance.
How similar studies have performed: While cognitive behavioral therapy has been effective in treating various psychological conditions, this specific application for Idiopathic Environmental Intolerance is novel and has not been extensively tested.
