What this trial studies

This observational usability study asks experienced SUD researchers to use the Cogito platform to build sample guides, activities, and surveys via an interactive tutorial and a guided "functionality scavenger hunt." Participants complete tasks within the platform and then fill out surveys to provide structured feedback on usability and functionality. The goal is to identify usability issues and improvement opportunities for Cogito when used to create digital therapeutics for substance use disorders. The study is sponsored by Square2 Systems with collaboration from NIDA and conducted at Square2 Systems in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are PhD- or MD-level scientists (or equivalent) at the postdoctoral level or higher who are trained in SUD research and have a stated interest in digital therapeutics for SUDs.

Not a fit: People who are not researchers (or who lack SUD research training), are under 18, or do not have an interest in digital therapeutics are unlikely to benefit from participating.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, Cogito could lower the technical barrier and speed development of evidence-based digital therapeutics for SUDs, enabling more rapid deployment and iteration of behavioral interventions.

How similar studies have performed: Usability studies of other digital health authoring tools have shown feasibility and helpful feedback, but Cogito's turnkey drag-and-drop approach for SUD-specific digital therapeutics represents a novel, initially untested implementation.
