What this trial studies
This clinical trial examines the effects of a clinic-based school readiness coaching session conducted by a community health worker for parents of 3-5-year-olds. The study aims to determine how this coaching impacts children's school readiness skills and parents' confidence in supporting early math and literacy at home. Participants will receive a one-hour coaching session at their pediatric clinic and return for a follow-up after three months, allowing researchers to compare pre-and-post outcomes for both children and parents. The study also evaluates whether the coaching session influences rates of well-child checks at the clinic.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include parents or caregivers of 3-6-year-olds who receive primary care at the participating clinics and are eligible for Medicaid services.
Not a fit: Patients whose children are too ill to participate or parents unable to complete study activities may not benefit from this study.
