What this trial studies

This randomized controlled trial evaluates the effectiveness of a physical activity coaching intervention delivered through an eHealth platform for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Participants will undergo a 10-week pulmonary rehabilitation program, after which the experimental group will receive ongoing coaching for 6 months to enhance their physical activity levels. The intervention includes goal setting, performance tracking, and overcoming barriers to physical activity through regular communication. Assessments will be conducted at multiple points to measure health-related outcomes and activity levels.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals over 40 years old with a stable COPD diagnosis who are enrolled in a pulmonary rehabilitation program and have access to a smartphone.

Not a fit: Patients with severe musculoskeletal or neurological disorders, unstable cardiovascular disease, or other primary respiratory diseases may not benefit from this intervention.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve physical activity levels and overall health outcomes for COPD patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results with eHealth interventions for chronic disease management, suggesting potential success for this approach.
