What this trial studies

This observational project will record voluntary video and audio of clinical teaching sessions, skill demonstrations, and trainee–patient interactions in occupational therapy. Participants include occupational therapists who teach, interns and postgraduate trainees, and adult patients or family members who consent to recording. Recordings will be anonymized, securely stored, and organized into a searchable database for future educational use and research on teaching and assessment methods. No experimental treatments or changes to clinical care will be made as part of this work.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal participants are adult patients (age 20 or older) receiving occupational therapy at the site who can give informed consent to be video or audio recorded.

Not a fit: Patients who cannot give informed consent due to significant cognitive or communication impairment, or those who decline recording, are unlikely to benefit directly from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the database could improve occupational therapy training and indirectly improve patient care by giving clinicians and students better examples of clinical skills.

How similar studies have performed: Video libraries and recorded clinical encounters have been used successfully in medical and allied health education, though dedicated large-scale databases for occupational therapy teaching remain relatively limited.
