What this trial studies
This investigation focuses on implementing and refining a culturally adapted parenting intervention called CAPAS-Youth, specifically designed for Hispanic immigrant families in mid-Texas. The program aims to strengthen parenting practices that positively influence adolescent behavior through a faith-based approach. The study will assess barriers to implementation and gather data on the effectiveness of the intervention, with the goal of scaling it for broader use in underserved communities. By training community members as interventionists, the program seeks to enhance sustainability and reach.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include first-generation Hispanic immigrant parents aged 18 or older with US-born children aged 12-14 who are experiencing financial challenges.
Not a fit: Patients who are involved with Child Protective Services due to confirmed child abuse or neglect, or those with severe psychiatric disorders may not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve parenting practices and adolescent behavior in underserved Hispanic communities.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with culturally adapted parenting interventions, indicating potential for this approach to be effective as well.
