Characterizing T-cell responses to arbovirus infections using ELISpot tests

ARBOspot: Characterization of Arbovirus Specific T Cell Response in Patients by Using Enzyme Linked Immunospot (ELISpot) Assays

Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo di Pavia · NCT07291206

What this trial studies

This observational project will enroll adults with suspected arbovirus infection at Fondazione IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia and collect blood samples for immunological analysis. Researchers will use ELISpot and related assays to measure virus-specific T-cell responses and compare results with serology and clinical information. The work will include endemic and imported arboviruses such as WNV, TOSV, SFSV, SFNV, USUV, TBEV, CHIKV, DENV, ZIKV, YFV, and JEV. Results aim to map cellular immune profiles that could inform diagnosis and surveillance strategies.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults aged 18 or older of any sex with a suspected arbovirus infection who can give written informed consent are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: People without a current suspected arbovirus infection or those with conditions that would compromise safety or interfere with immune testing are unlikely to benefit.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this could improve understanding of protective immune responses and help refine diagnostic and surveillance tools for arbovirus infections.

How similar studies have performed: ELISpot and similar T-cell assays have been used successfully to detect cellular immune responses in other viral infections and in some arbovirus research.
