Characterizing clinical and diagnostic features of endocarditis
Observational Prospective Multicenter Study to Characterize the cLinical ANd DiagnoStiC feAtures of Endocarditis in the contemPorary Era

What this trial studies
This observational multicenter study aims to update the epidemiological data on endocarditis, particularly in light of recent increases in percutaneous valve procedures among older and more fragile populations. The study consists of two arms: a retrospective analysis of patients diagnosed with endocarditis from 2016 to 2022, and a prospective analysis involving patients referred for echocardiography to assess for endocarditis. Data collected will include clinical features, imaging techniques, management strategies, and follow-up outcomes. The findings will help improve understanding and management of endocarditis in contemporary clinical practice.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years who are referred for echocardiography to assess for endocarditis or have already been diagnosed with the condition.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse to participate in the study will not benefit from the findings.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the diagnosis and treatment strategies for endocarditis, potentially improving patient outcomes.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on endocarditis, this specific multicenter and international approach to updating epidemiological data is relatively novel.
