What this trial studies

This study focuses on identifying different types of sleep-disordered breathing, such as obstructive and central apnea, by analyzing breathing sounds. Patients aged 18-75 with confirmed sleep apnea will have their breathing sounds recorded overnight using a specialized microphone device. The recorded sounds will be processed to detect apnea events based on specific acoustic features, allowing for a more precise diagnosis and treatment approach. The goal is to enhance the understanding of sleep-disordered breathing phenotypes and improve treatment outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-75 with confirmed sleep apnea who have not yet received treatment.

Not a fit: Patients who are pregnant or have other medical conditions that disqualify them from participation will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could lead to more accurate diagnoses and tailored treatments for patients with sleep-disordered breathing.

How similar studies have performed: While research on sleep-disordered breathing is ongoing, this specific approach using sound analysis is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
