Breathing exercises combined with medication for asthma management
Additive Effects of Alternative Nostril Breathing with Pharmacological Management on Dyspnea and Control Pause in Patients with Bronchial Asthma

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of alternative nostril breathing techniques alongside standard pharmacological treatment in patients with bronchial asthma. It aims to compare the outcomes of this combined approach against medication alone, focusing on improvements in dyspnea, control pause, asthma control, and peak expiratory flow rate. The study targets adults aged 18-45 with varying degrees of asthma severity, utilizing a structured methodology to assess the effectiveness of the breathing exercises. Participants will be monitored for their respiratory function and overall asthma management.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-45 with mild to moderate persistent asthma and a Modified MRC dyspnea scale grade of 1 to 4.
Not a fit: Patients experiencing acute exacerbations of asthma or COPD, or those with severe asthma control issues, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could enhance asthma management and improve quality of life for patients by reducing breathlessness and improving lung function.
How similar studies have performed: While breathing techniques have been explored in asthma management, this specific combination with pharmacological treatment is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
