What this trial studies

This project evaluates the effectiveness of a breastfeeding toolkit card provided during antenatal care to encourage sustained breastfeeding among new mothers. Starting from January 1, 2024, midwives will present this card to pregnant women attending their 24-week antenatal appointments. The study will compare breastfeeding rates between those who receive the card and those who had their appointments in the previous three months without the card. The aim is to determine if this intervention can positively influence breastfeeding maintenance.

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are pregnant women attending antenatal appointments in NHS Grampian.

Not a fit: Patients who are not pregnant or those who do not attend antenatal care will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly improve breastfeeding rates among new mothers.
