What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to determine the effectiveness of a social network intervention called REDES in increasing COVID-19 vaccination rates among Latino communities. The study will recruit 300 Latino adults who have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine, dividing them into two groups: one receiving training in motivational interviewing to encourage vaccination among their friends and connections, and the other receiving standard information about the vaccine. Participants will be followed for 18 months to assess vaccination rates and identify barriers and facilitators to vaccine uptake. The findings will help tailor future interventions to improve vaccination rates in similar communities.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include Hispanic/Latino adults aged 18 and older living in Maryland who have received at least one COVID-19 vaccine.
Not a fit: Patients who are not Hispanic/Latino or those who have already participated in the study will not benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly increase COVID-19 vaccination rates among Latino populations, reducing health disparities.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success with community-based interventions to improve vaccination rates, suggesting this approach may be effective.
