Biological and pathophysiological features linked to sexual orientation in men
Investigating the Pathophysiological Nature of Homosexuality Patients in Egypt, England, China, and Mexico: Multicenter Study.

What this trial studies
This observational protocol enrolls adult men to collect clinical, biological, and self-report data, including the Subjective Scale of Stigma and Discrimination (SISD), to explore links between biological markers and male homosexual behavior. Eligibility excludes men taking testosterone or anabolic steroids, people with HIV, those reporting multi-sexual (bisexual) behavior, and individuals with addictive disorders. Data appear to be collected at a single site in Egypt (Tanta University) with no experimental treatments or interventions administered. The aim is to describe associations rather than to test a therapeutic intervention.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal participants are men age 18 or older who are not taking testosterone or anabolic steroids, are HIV-negative, do not report multi-sexual behavior, and do not have an addictive disorder.
Not a fit: People under 18, women, men taking testosterone or anabolic steroids, people living with HIV, individuals reporting bisexual/multi-sexual behavior, or those with current addictive disorders are excluded and would not be expected to benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If clear patterns are found, the work could help clarify biological contributors to male sexual orientation and inform clinical awareness and public discussion.
How similar studies have performed: Prior research has reported genetic, prenatal hormonal, and neuroanatomical associations with sexual orientation, but findings have been mixed and remain scientifically and socially controversial.
