What this trial studies
This research examines the effects of a 10-week integrative intervention called Healing Minds, which combines biofeedback and breathing practices, on the severity of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children and adolescents aged 6-18. The study aims to determine if this intervention can significantly reduce ADHD symptoms and improve heart rate variability compared to a placebo. It will be conducted as a randomized, placebo-controlled trial, focusing particularly on those with poorly-controlled ADHD who are on medication. The intervention will be administered by trained healthcare professionals.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are children and adolescents aged 6-18 with a confirmed diagnosis of ADHD.
Not a fit: Patients with severe, uncontrolled mental illnesses or significant medical conditions that limit participation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could provide a non-pharmacological treatment option for managing ADHD symptoms in youth.
How similar studies have performed: While there is emerging interest in biofeedback and integrative approaches for ADHD, this specific combination of interventions is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
