What this trial studies

About 30 patients at Riga Stradins University's Prosthodontics department who need at least four maxillary anterior veneers will be enrolled. Porcelain veneers will be prepared with approximately 0.5 mm facial reduction and cemented using either Panavia Veneer LC or Panavia V5, with direct composite restorations included for comparison. Outcomes include marginal defects and discoloration of the veneers and patient-reported aesthetic satisfaction measured by the Orofacial Esthetic Scale at 1- and 3-year follow-ups. Patients with heavy bruxism, poor oral hygiene, or active periodontal disease are excluded to ensure adequate enamel margins and healing potential.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Adults with healthy periodontium, stable occlusion, good oral hygiene, and at least four maxillary anterior teeth suitable for enamel-bonded veneers are ideal candidates.

Not a fit: Patients with heavy bruxism, poor oral hygiene, active periodontal inflammation, or insufficient enamel at the veneer margins are unlikely to benefit and are excluded.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this work could lead to veneers that stay better sealed, resist staining longer, and give patients higher aesthetic satisfaction with fewer repairs.

How similar studies have performed: Previous comparisons of adhesive resin systems and veneer techniques have produced mixed results; Panavia cements are well-established clinically but direct head-to-head long-term data are limited.
